this week, i got a job.

having been put in touch with a man at the madrid local education
authority, i received a phone call asking me to pop into his office
because there was an opening. (something lost in the translation there
i think, but anyway...)

having negotiated my way past the guard with the gun, my contact
informed me that a primary school were looking for an english language
assistant to work 14 hours a week, assisting the teacher in classes.
madrid has this programme to make staff and pupils in many primary
schools bilinugal; as a result, teaching in many subjects is done in
english. my tasks also involve teaching the teachers english, all for
rather a comfortable sum of money.

however, there is a rather fundamental problem. it is miles away from
where i´m living, and involves a rather complex journey on madrid´s
fantastic but tedious public transport system. it could involve me
travelling up to 2 hours each way to and from work.

nevertheless, it´s money, and i´m going to bear that in mind when i´m
sharing my pocket with a fellow metro commuter.
