phew. it's getting a bit deep...
Wednesday, December 21, 2005it's funny.
whilst i'm enjoying very much my time here in madrid, there are some
things which catch you unawares and make you realise it's just not
england; that it's all still a little uncomfortable.
today, i was invited by the pe teacher to go to watch football with
him and his dad this evening. this is the same guy who i went on the
school skiing trip with, and spent much time sat in a chairlift
passively absorbing swear words in spanish. whilst conversations are a
real struggle (he don't speaky the english) i find it quite touching
that he is willing to persevere through an afternoon with me at a
football match.
i was touched.
but, the fact there is no word for home in spanish has made me
philosophociphial. home, with all it's connotations, just isn't the
same as house. i am going home tomorrow, but today i will go to my
house.
in spain, quite literally, there is no place like home.

We always knew that underneath the daft hats was a very active mind...
Would the word 'hogar' be of any use? Not commonly used, I know, but I am pretty sure it exists.
Sorry for trying to be a smart ass.
... but congrats to you on finding a spanish boyfriend! Schweet.

Katherine: Does he wear that green/red/white headband out there too?
I was with him when he bought it - told him it looked good. Hah!

Hope you had a jolly xmas and New Year mi amigo?! I don't know when exactly you're heading back to Madrid, but rest assured I kinda wish I was going too.
But anyway, I know you have some excellent photos hidden away from the past few months and I would love to see them, HINT HINT!
And if you have any featuring this headband that Kester mentioned I would be keen on seeing that. Actually, I think it may actually be worth just having a gallery of your hats and suchlike.
Gracias.... xXx

the headband of which kester speaks is tucked up in my special box at home...along with that white h&m rollneck jumper with blue lions on. belter.
