the world's worst bank

Tuesday, October 17, 2006

met up with joe in london on sunday and had a lovely time at
spittalfields market (jon snow was there, as were jim and andrea corr,
but i digress).

needing to withdraw cash in order to afford lunch, i tried at a
cashpoint (normally the best place for cash withdrawals these days).
no luck. oh well, joe will just have to pay for it.

arriving back at liverpool street and in need of oyster top-up, my
card was once again declined by the (far too large) self-service
machines and at the ticket office.

once again, joe stepped in with his bank card.

when we got home, i called hsbc (always an interesting experience) and
was told that their servers had crashed, explaining why my card had
been declined.

completely useless. had i not had a friend with an account at a
different bank, willing to spend £20 on me because of hsbc's
incompetence, i couldn't have got home.

it actually really annoyed me. thank god i wasn't in a situation where
i had no option but to use my card...like a brothel.

Off topic, slightly; but I think the fact that you lack any form of bollocks whatsoever would limit you going into a brothel, not the absence of adequate financial support.

I'd have no issue though, the way things are at the moment. x

Not sure if I mentioned the loan agreements at the time, but you now owe me interest. Sorry for not mentioning that earlier.
